78km Complete: Victor Das Goes the Distance for Barwon Health

78km Complete: Victor Das Goes the Distance for Barwon Health

What started as a light-hearted footy tipping challenge has finished with 78 kilometres on the track and more than $2,500 raised for the Barwon Health Foundation.

Throughout the AFL season, Armstrong Real Estate’s land sales agent, Victor Das committed to running one kilometre for every incorrect footy tip he made.

By season’s end, that tally had reached 78 kilometres.

So, at 7am on Friday, 25 September, Victor stepped up to the mark and started tackling the full distance at the Deakin University athletics track in Waurn Ponds, turning months of questionable tipping into a challenge with a much bigger purpose.

But, Victor wasn’t alone on the day. Members of the Armstrong Real Estate and Oslo Property teams joined him throughout the run, stepping in for kilometres, keeping him company on the track and cheering him on as the distance added up. Even his dog Francis ran a few laps to keep him company.

What began as a weekly tipping challenge quickly became something the whole team gotbehind.

After a long day on the track, Victor with the help of a few of his team mates, successfully completed all 78 kilometres.

More than $2,500 raised

For Victor, the goal was never just about completing the distance. It was a chance to use the challenge to support an organisation that plays an important role across Geelong and the wider region.

The challenge has now raised more than $2,500 for the Barwon Health Foundation, with funds supporting the Barwon Women’s and Children’s Appeal.

We’re incredibly proud of the effort Victor put in, both in preparing for the run and completing the challenge on the day.

A big thank you to Deakin University for the use of their track and Barwon Health Foundation for getting behind Victor’s efforts.

To everyone who donated, followed along throughout the season, came down to support or joined Victor for part of the run, thank you!

Stay tuned for next year’s footy tipping challenge.
