Geelong Agent Runs for Every Wrong Tip in AFL Fundraiser for Barwon Health
Armstrong Real Estate’s Victor Das has already racked up 50km, and the season isn’t over yet
What started as a bit of fun around the office has turned into a genuine community fundraiser and a serious running challenge. Armstrong Real Estate land sales agent Victor Das is running one kilometre for every wrong AFL tip he makes this season, with all funds raised supporting the Barwon Health Foundation.
Each week, Victor goes around the Armstrong Real Estate office asking colleagues to predict the weekend’s AFL results. Every incorrect tip adds a kilometre to his tally. With 10 rounds still to go in the regular season, Victor has already committed to running 50 kilometres, and the number is only increasing.
“We’ve been doing footy tipping on social media for five years now,” said Victor. “This year we wanted to take it a step further. I like running, so we thought, why not make a real challenge of it and raise money for a good cause at the same time?”
Victor plans to complete the challenge in one event on Friday, 25 September, before AFL Grand Final weekend, at a local running track. Colleagues, friends and the public are encouraged to come and cheer him on, with some Armstrong team members planning to join him on the track, potentially sharing the load depending on the final tally.
The Barwon Health Foundation was chosen to receive the funds raised as Victor says the cause is close to his heart.
“Everyone in Geelong is touched by Barwon Health at some point, whether it’s you, a family member, or someone you care about,” he said. “If our footy tipping fundraiser can help support people getting the best possible care, that’s worth running for.”
Director of Armstrong Real Estate, Megan Rovers, says the footy tipping challenge perfectly captures what Armstrong Real Estate is all about.
“Being genuinely connected to the community, not just doing business in it, is something Armstrong Real Estate has always stood for. We’re incredibly proud of what Victor is doing, and we’ll be right there on the track cheering him on”.
The Barwon Health Foundation is right behind Victor’s footy tipping challenge this year. Zoe Waters, Executive Director, said, “Victor’s challenge is a fantastic example of how a simple idea can make a real difference. Every kilometre he runs will help support better care for local women, children and families through the Barwon Women’s and Children’s Appeal. We can’t thank him and the Armstrong Real Estate team enough for getting behind Barwon Health in such a creative way.”
Victor’s goal is simple: raise as much as possible for the Barwon Health Foundation, which will put every dollar to good use supporting the Barwon Women’s and Children’s Appeal.
